Due to the devastating arson fire in the Weil property, the Chapel Downtown is now meeting in the upstairs"Peace Room" at the Friends church. (Thank you, "Friends"!).
Time: 10:30 am (Worship Service)
7 pm (Men's Group)
Address: 6th and Edison (332 NE 6th)
Although Asland (Suite E) was also damaged by the fire suppression activities , we plan to reopen after repairs are completed. Currently the Healing Room and Allegra ministries are also meeting at the Friends Church.
All of our outreach activities at 6 eldercare sites continue as before..
The southern wall of The Chapel Downtown rests against the wall of the 2-story Weil building which was totally destroyed in the New Years' fire. Flames did not kindle upon us, but the heat was so great that it exploded every window in The Chapel. Our roof was chopped open to limit the spread of fire as hundreds of thousands of gallons of water were sprayed across the flames. It was a 4 alarm fire with 90 firemen involved. Our hope is that with the demolition of the Weil building, the Chapel will remain in place. It will require roofing, ceiling, electrical, walls, and more. Due to the uncertainty of the effects of demolition, and the timeline for repairs, our lease at The Chapel Downtown is terminated. Asland (Suite E) will remain leased to us and will definitely reopen following repairs.
